Another Opportunity To Assist Refugees

Posted in Life, etc., South Africa

Yesterday I wrote about how I felt we needed to do something more as bloggers (i.e., more than just write) about the xenophobia crisis in our country. I’ve had numerous responses, Stii came up with some suggestions and I also gather that a march has been organised.

I’ve also just received an email from my friend Dion Forster, who is a prolific blogger, respected leader in the Methodist church and a Mac and Vespa evangelist to boot, referring to his blog post from today. Family friends of ours are currently spending their days and nights in ICU at the Glynnwood hospital next [...]

Matthew Buckland Is Bolton Deventer

Posted in Life, etc., South Africa, Web 2.0 and Social Media

So it looks like the cat’s finally out of the bag. I have never written about Bolton the Magnificent, inventor of blogs and master of the Interweb Netsite on this blog before - at the time when the Bolton Deventer meme was at it’s peak I was pretty busy and missed out on the [...]

Bystander Effect - Heroes And Helplessness

Posted in Life, etc.

In 1964 Kitty Genovese was stabbed to death by a serial rapist and murderer. The murder took place over a period of about a half hour, after which it was reported that dozens of alleged “witnesses” failed to help the victim.
As a result the bystander effect - a psychological phenomenon in which someone is less [...]

Day One In Cerebra’s New Offices

Posted in Entrepreneurship, Life, etc.

After over a year working out of a bit of a skanky joint, we decided we wanted our own space (and also just got too big) and can officially announce the new residence of Cerebra on the first floor (middle suite), Block F, Rochester Place, 173 Rivonia Rd. That’s just after the Harley Davidson [...]
