Shameless StumbleUpon Request

Posted in Random Thoughts, Web 2.0 and Social Media

Inspired by Chris Brogan’s traffic explosure (explosive + exposure = explosure… TM “me”) thanks to StumbleUpon, I’d like to ask you to stumble this blog if you like it.

If you don’t, or disagree with the ethics behind this egotistical request, don’t. You’ll get over it soon enough.

Is there a better way (other than the ‘Sociable’ plugin at the bottom of this post) to give readers the option of Stumbling posts they enjoy? Help me geeks…

Mike, many bloggers have praised StumbleUpon for the traffic it generates, but there are many deficiencies with relying upon them for traffic.

    1. SU traffic is inconsistent
    2. SU traffic is reliant on the actions of third parties
    3. SU traffic generates a high bounce rate
    4. SU traffic does not tend to enlarge your blog’s regular readership
    5. SU readers generally do not leave comments

A short time ago, many SA bloggers were quick to join EntreCard and install the EC widget, and they were just as quick to lose interest in it.

However, EC offers several advantages over SU. I wrote a blog post about how to get the best out of EC. I’d encourage you and other SA bloggers to not only re-adopt EntreCard but start putting the required effort into it to make it work for them,
