I Want To Have Lunch With Henk Kleynhans…
…because after this he’s going to be hard to get hold of.
Henk is the founder and MD of Skyrove (who I advertise on my blog not because he pays for it, but because I love them so much :P) and without doubt one of the nicest, smartest and most humble people in the industry.
I hope this compliment to him and his hard work will mean even more success. Well done bud!
Update:
Huge apologies to Andy Higgins of www.bidorbuy.co.za, who is also on the same list – I met Andy the other day and although I think I made a shocking first impression was struck by his smarts too. Well done to you both!
No disrespect to Henk but surely the whole point of “top 200 YOUNG South African’s” was totally off the point?
The average age of that group of people must have been around 30. Maybe it’s just me but people who have done excessively well is one thing but I’d be more interested to have lunch with someone up and coming. I mean the Charl Norman’s of our world are vastly more interesting that someone who has made it maaaasive already.
The whole article just seemed to miss the point of “young” IE 18-25
@Mike Henk is a real gem, your assessment is spot on. He is definitely one of the top entrepreneurs in SA that I have met (and I put my money where my mouth was with him!)
@Saulk Henk will be the first to tell you that he does not think that he has done excessively well, and in all fairness, he hasn’t yet. He is in the process of building a business for the long term – he hasn’t had any exits, sold any shares or made any large amount of profits. Building a business for the long term is really by separates the men from the boys.
Charl & Henk both are focused on building a name for themselves, and neither of them would say that they can site back and bask in the glory yet. Henk’s age is not even relevant – young South Africans are really anyone under the age of 40 who are trying to make it for themselves. Our society is dominated by 40-65 year olds who have had the benefit of either creating wealth pre-apartheid, or being at the right place at the right time when apartheid ended – neither Henk or Charl (or myself for that matter) fall into that category.
Top Young South Africans for me is about the guys that are going to rise about the dominant Gen X & Baby Boomer generations and usher in a new generation of wealth for Gen Y – Henk & Charl both fit into that category – albeit separated by a few year. All kudos to Henk for making the list!
