South African Blog Showcase: Saul Kropman (www.saulk.co.za)
I’ve had this review saved in my WordPress drafts for some time now, but after I noticed that Saul was kind enough to mention my blog in his post I felt a bit guilty that I hadn’t published it yet. So here goes…
Saul Kropman authors The Outlet - “Interesting commentary for interesting people” - while studying a postgraduate diploma and running A Visual Affair as a day job. A Visual Affair Student Marketing CC is a “company based on (providing?) new and innovative marketing solutions for clients interested in targeting the student market”.
The Outlet is a fairly recent addition to the SA blogosphere, but Saul has employed tried and tested tactics of diligent posting, a little controversy and generous linkage to steadily climb up the rankings and into the attention spans of some of SA’s more established bloggers.
His content is not really niched but Saul rather - in much the same way as I like to on this site - tells stories and shares insights on a variety of subjects that appeal to him. From a passion for cars to concerns about the state of our country (he can come across a little cynical at times, but it’s always tough to judge tone from digital text), one thing is apparent; Saul tells it like he sees it.
His blog is run on WordPress with a very cool generic theme by Studio ST.
Watch this one - I think we have another Haralambous on our hands (take that as you want, Saul, it’s meant as a compliment :)…

Mike, I’m gonna take it as a compliment, whether Saul does or not!!
Good write up and you are right, he’s been consistently getting involved, adding value and chatting to relevant sources that have definitely helped him get his ranking up and visitors streaming in.
I wish him luck and challenge him to a rant-off!!
@Nic - if you’re challenging him to a rant-off, I wish the young man the very best of luck.
Mike, thanks so much for the post. It’s really appreciated!
Nic and I have actually spoken about a “blog-off”. I’m just going to get my flame retardant suit out and we’ll get it started
