Tired

A friend just sent me a mail saying that I’ve come across as a bit ‘tired’ in the last while (in terms of my writing on this blog). Sorry if things have been a bit sporadic and drab but there have been three big things happening in my life recently that I guess can be shared here, ‘cos they may in some way, shape or form impact you or interest you.

Firstly, I recently came back from the DEMO conference in the US and to be frank the traveling took it out of me. I am traveling un-fit and needed some time to re-adjust, as well as soak up everything I experienced and learned there.

Secondly things have really exploded at Cerebra. We are doing some incredibly exciting work with some great brands. On top of the outward facing stuff with Samsung, Toyota and Calvin Klein, there are a number of super internal projects we’re working on with leading companies (including Hollard, ABSA, Rand Merchant Bank, Kelly Group and others). Hopefully there’ll be more exciting announcements to come, and possibly even one or two vacancies. If you’re in the social Web space and want to be working on challenging projects, send us your CV.

Lastly, and on a more serious and personal front, Wendy and I sadly lost a baby to a rare ectopic pregnancy. It hit us pretty hard and has had quite an impact on my work and well, life in general. We’re still very blessed to have a healthy, happy son in Ethan (who continues to grow at a rate of knots) but obviously this was a biggie for us. Thanks to those of you who have supported and encouraged us.

So here’s to being less tired :)

  6. Eina! So sorry Mike, to read about Mother Nature’s glitch. I know how much you guys wanted another little person to keep Ethan company. God’s grace, it’ll happen again soon. Empathy and warmest regards, Clive

  9. Hi Mike

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. My wife and I went through an ectopic pregancy a few years ago, it was a very sad time, so I really understand. I hope and pray that God will be your comfort!
