Nokia And Facebook In Negotiations
Recently we discovered that our very own Zoopy had struck a deal with mobile giants Nokia to be able to publish mobile content directly to Zoopy from selected Nokia handsets.
From the exclusive release:
Nokia and Facebook are working on porting the social network on to Nokia handsets in a major way, we have learned. The Facebook placement could be as prominent as the YouTube button on the main screen of iPhone, our sources indicate. Also, the deal involves giving Facebook a major slot within Nokia retail products’ displays.
But another factor elevates this beyond just-another-social-net-on-a-phone deal: Our sources have indicated that the discussions have involved Nokia purchasing a stake in the company, but these are in very early stages.
Nokia really are pushing the envelope with regards to innovation and development in the social computing era. Not only are they striking up patnerships, but they seem to be willing to put their money where their mouth(s) is(are) and actually invest significantly in the growth of social mobile computing. Tell you what, if Nokia offered me a job today, I’d be loathed to turn it down. Seems like a fun place to be…
