8 Things…
Happy New Year!
A lifetime ago (that is, December 2006) there was a little game of blog tag I was roped into playing. Once again I have been tagged and if not for the fact that it is the illustrious Susan Scrupski that is doing the tagging, I might ignore it.
But what the heck. Here are 8 things you probably don’t know about me that aren’t the 5 things you previously didn’t know about me. As if you care…
1. I played Prince Charming in Benoni West Primary School’s production of The Little Mermaid. I was good.
2. I was a drummer in the Benoni High School Pipe Band for a few years and toured Scotland to play at the World Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1999.
3. Every night I share a bed with one wife, one almost-three-year-old and two dachshunds. It’s a squeeze, but rather cozy in winter.
4. I’ve had quite a few car accidents, but only one that was ‘normal’. The others include crashing into the wall of a shooting range while messing around on the main football field of a local high school, ramming into the back of a friends car while on the way to a gig, and having two accidents in as many hours on one day. First I got reversed into at the airport and only 90 minutes later I slammed into the back of a vehicle while checking my Gmail on my phone. Not advisable.
5. I can recite the first 20 elements of the periodic table off by heart. I have been able to since I was 10. Not that it helped my Matric science marks though.
6. I have absolutely no natural sense of direction whatsoever. I don’t know how to tell where North, South east or West is. I can go to the same place 5 times and still not know how to get there. I once got lost coming home from work. My GPS is my best friend.
7. I used to bite my nails really badly. I’m still tempted to, but thankfully I don’t. It’s not a nice habit at all.
8. I secretly have ambitions to play cricket for South Africa. However as I get progressively older and less fit this is becoming less likely.
