“New Media And Technology Law @ Work” Workshops

Posted in South Africa, Web 2.0 and Social Media

I have gone on record in the past as having lamented the sub-standard execution of conferences in South Africa - especially ‘Web 2.0′ or ‘New Media’ conferences hosted by those who care more about making a quick buck off a trend than delivering a quality informative experience.

Rant over.

In the midst of the sub-standard stuff the odd gem appears that you should certainly make an effort to attend if you can. One such session - more a workshop than a conference - is being facilitated by Paul Jacobson of Chilibean next week, 30 October, at the FNB Conference center in Johannesburg. It is called New Media and Technology Law @ Work and will deal specifically with the following points:

* The risk of defamation through the use of social media;
* An overview of intellectual property rights issues on the Web;
* Open content licensing options;
* Protecting your relationships with your customers;
* Technology risks in the workplace;
* Corporate governance as it related to technology risks;
* Information and network security concerns;
* Risk assessments to determine your possible exposure.

This is one workshop you want to be sending your strategic decision-makers to in the next few weeks. It’s affordable and full of valuable, cutting-edge content.
