Ode To An Audi
Ode To An Audi
It was fate that brought you to my keep
When a good friend emigrated to the Land of Sheep
And since that day 3 years ago
Truth be told: I’ve seldom driven slow.
You’ve protected my family, let alone me
As I’ve progressively hit everything save a tree.
Yes, I confess that we’ve had a few prangs
But not once did I bruise in the clashes and clangs.
Alas, as you aged things began to go wrong
It cost a bit much just to keep you going strong,
But I vowed to be faithful, and forked out some Rands
To avoid having to replace you for three hundred grand.
Little did I know, there was no way I could foresee
How this fine symbiosis would suddenly be
Ended by a stone on a lonely dusty road
On a journey to Delmas just a week ago.
It turns out your sump was struck by a rock
Your oil leaked out, and your engine took a knock
You belched and squealed and heaved and bucked
Too bad I only stopped when I realised you were… broken.
We towed you home where the mechanic surveyed
The damage I’d done - the mess I’d made
Your engine forever is lost to scrap
And to be honest I really do feel rather crap.
So goodbye my cabby, and thanks for fun
As enjoyable cars go you were a fantastic one
It’s time to upgrade, but I’ll never forget
The good times we’ve had since the day that we met.

great post mike. what are you upgrading to?
Haha, awesome Ode bro, made me laugh. Especially the “broken” bit…!
Mike brother, that sucks. but not quite as much as driving an old German car sucks. Ask me I know. A few rands mmpfffff!!!!
LoL! Sorry to hear about the Green Machine’s demise… but what a eulogy!
L0L ,Hope the Delmas dusty road did pay some tribute to this legend as much as you do.That was emotional.
You are a nut!
[...] If you follow this blog at all you’ll know that I recently upgraded to a new vehicle after utterly destroying my motor of my previous car due to an unfortunate altercation with an over-sized rock on a dirt road in Delmas. [...]
