Snow
Ok, so maybe our UK and USA counterparts will be wondering why we’re over the moon with excitement at the overwhelming one inch of snow we received this morning across most of Johannesburg, but if I say that the last time this happened in our part of the world was on the day I turned one year old - 10 September 1981, you’ll forgive us. We’ve waited 25 years for snow to return and I could barely contain myself as I pranced around in the fluffy whiteness like a rancid idiot at 6am.
For us, this rarity is like Halley’s Comet, except it’s rather a lot smaller, fluffier and not really a comet. Ok so maybe that was a bad analogy.
It was awesome for Ethan who is just about old enough to appreciate it. He had a ball, or two, as is evident from my flickr photostream.
What a cool day. No pun intended. Let’s hope we have more!

Hi Mike
Take a look at the post “Frozen Radioactive Finches” here - http://onlinetrek.blogspot.com/2007/06/frozen-radioactive-finches.html - to see what happens when the weather affects the minds of our fellow Joburg residents!

When next it snows in Minnesota, I will remember to send a truck load your way. Pitiful you can’t even make snowballs out of it. Enjoy!
