Lingham Capital Announced

vinny announces synthasite and lingham capital at 27 dinnerVinny Lingham, the catalyst behind the South Africa’s most successful Search Engine Marketing company, IncuBeta, announced at the recent 27 Dinner in Jozi that he is focusing his energy in the next while on his “Dreamweaver within a Web browser” application Synthasite, while remaining a director at IncuBeta. Read his post with details on the move here.

Vinny has also announced the launch of Lingham Capital, a VC fund based in Cape Town that will look to support innovative, emerging South African Web startups. Vinny confirmed that he and Henk Kleynhans of Skyrove have already agreed on a seven-figure deal that will hopefully launch Skyrove into the next level of development and growth (Heaven knows Henk deserves every ounce of blessing he receives :)).

Personally, I’m in awe of Vinny’s success and ongoing efforts to support the growth of SA’s entrepreneurial Web community. He has freely offered himself as a resource to me many times and I think his record proves his aptitude for smart, profitable business. My hope is that Vinny’s willingness to put his money where his mouth is will encourage other successful, knowledgeable investors to step up to the plate and do the same, finally giving SA startups the launch pad they deserve going forward.

I second your sentiment. He is always the first to respond to any request, I wish Vinny all the success.

Any idea whether it was an equity or debt based funding?

It was Equity funding – I have a personal issue with VC’s who fund debt. If the company doesn’t make it – how do they pay it back??
