Afrigator Gets Better

Posted in Marketing, Advertising and Branding, South Africa, Web 2.0 and Social Media

When we launched Afrigator - Africa’s first social media aggregator - a month and a bit ago, truth be told, we knew there was much we had not had enough time to perfect. However, the decision between it not being perfect and us losing out completely was a no-brainer.

So ever since we launched we’ve been looking forward to improving on some of the shortcomings of the site. Now, the next version of Afrigator is fresh out of the brains of Justin, Mark and Stii and ready for your input.

Some highlights of the new version (there is a comprehensive report of all the new features and functionality at the Afrigator blog):

  1. Improved user dashboard with the ability to sign up multiple blogs per user
  2. Geek happiness - sign in to Afrigator using your OpenID
  3. MyGator - a feed reader within a blog aggregator. Customise your Afrigator experience by adding your favourite Afrigator bloggers to one central page for your reading pleasure
  4. Labels, which are another cool way to customise your Afrigator experience once you are signed in to the site
  5. Community blog ranking (which is toggled by clicking on the star next to the Muti icon) allows you to give a blog a ranking out of 5, on top of the individual post rankings which have been in place since day one
  6. Ja, we’ve finally fixed the tag and search clouds :P
  7. Stats and top sites algorithms have also been improved / changed

And that’s about that. We’d love your feedback! Remember there’s still time to refer someone to Afrigator or sign up for the first time to stand in line to win an Apple iPod!

I know I should not open my big trap in here as I nothing about ‘geek stough’ and I have no idea what Afrigator is about; but…….. I know stax about starting… and improving it later.

Since AIM (previously MAC) was started some seven years ago, PLENTY improvements have been made, and it has only gone to market now; if you start you can improve , if you never start…. you’ll simply loose out to someone who’s prepared to be the fool for a few weeks.

    Nice ride guys

Wynand, thats for the kind words, man. I’ve been sleepcamelling yesterday, but my aim is to get some guides going to explain some of what the Gator is about and how to use it! I’ll keep you informed.
