27 Dinner Jozi Bursts It’s Belt
The ever-vigilant Tyler Reed (what does this oke do all day?) has brought it to my attention that the list for 27 Dinner Jozi (27-3) (yes, it’s tomorrow - yikes) has exceeded 100 people.
That, without a dedicated IOL article. No ways.
Anyhow, I look forward to seeing you there. As for the numbers thing, rules are there to be broken and besides, thus far we’ve had a pretty consistent 10% no-show ratio.

Just looked at the jozi 27dinner page and the event appears to have imploded - what happened?
Hey Mike, was cool meeting you last night, even though you stole our wine
i thought it was a great evening! Only one suggestion please?
NAMETAGS!!! Unfortunately I am quite new to the 27 Dinner thing, and while I quite frequently browse and take part in many of the online discussions, what I saw last night were just a lot of people. I think I recognised two people last night from their websites. I know it sounds daft to have the nametag thing, but it would help greatly!
Otherwise it was cool! I don’t know about anything that imploded (apart from a **** cat constantly trying to steal my food… grrr), i thought it was really cool.
The talking people were cool, and really lekker to listen to, except for two folks (no names, I can’t remember them!). SA Rocks dude was great, the handshake guy was cool and the stormhoek guy, well anyone who hands me wine is a friend! The safety thing guy was lekker also.
Great Idea! Will defenitely attend in May!
Clive - the page ha not imploded
It has simply been updated to the new page for the next dinner. We do that on the day of each 27 Dinner, to keep the momentum going and the homepage fresh!
Thanks Adrian for the positive feedback, sorry about the sound and the dodgy cat
Unfortunately both were beyond my control. As for nametags, we’ve avoided going that way because it really ‘corporatises’ the event - we’re trying to avoid that dynamic. I’d really like to challenge you to risk embarrassment and run around intro’ing yourself to the humans at the event. Use an African handshake while you’re at it
yah, figured that could be the reasoning behind the notag thing. yah next time i think i should be a bit better prepared.
lol @ african handshake. methinks that is going to stick in a lot of peoples minds! really cool.
[...] The host of the evening was Mike Stopforth, to whom I would like to extend congratulations. Good job, it is really cool to meet up with the guys behind the screens of the sites you visit almost daily! [...]
Mike - changing the page on the day to the May 27dinner confused me sufficiently not to pitch on the evening. OK, now I know.
