Too Much Bandwidth

Posted in Random Thoughts

So I upgraded to a 6 Gb ADSL cap the other day, and then Henk told me about video.stumbleupon.com. Eish. Very addictive.
Anyhow, got an email from M-Web this arvie to say my cap is at 50%. I have to burn 3 Gigs tonight.
In my travels, I found this, and had [...]

My Skyrove Hotspot

Posted in South Africa

One of the prizes for the best Web / Tech / thingy blog at the awards last night was a hotspot-in-a-box from Henk of Skyrove.
I’m going to try explain how it works in plain English because it can be a bit tough to grasp at first, but as I understand it activating my Skyrove wi-fi [...]

The 2007 SA Blog Awards

Posted in Life, etc., South Africa, Web 2.0 and Social Media

Not your typical awards ceremony. Crazy foosball tournaments, vuvuzelas, reggae beats and the oddest lot of quasi-black Bob Marley wannabe’s I’ve ever seen.
Last night was the culmination of the much spoken about and debated 2007 Blog Awards effort at Cool Runnings in Fourways (thanks Rich…!, nice venue, even though I needed to fill my [...]

Not A Good Morning

Posted in Life, etc.

I woke up this morning, eventually, with a mild headache, after what I thought was another pretty successful installment of the 27 Dinner. Thanks to all the speakers and of course Stormhoek who contributed to the success of the event
But the headache, which persists, is the least of my concerns. On top [...]

Ten Young South African Digital Citizens To Watch

Posted in Life, etc., South Africa

There was a time when I could go to any meeting, any engagement, any party, and by default be the youngest person there. It’s not so anymore. I’m getting old and wrinkly and a whole new generation of exciting, entrepreneurial, driven young people are emerging from the woodwork (read university) in South Africa. [...]

27 Dinner Jozi Bursts It’s Belt

Posted in Marketing, Advertising and Branding, South Africa, Web 2.0 and Social Media

The ever-vigilant Tyler Reed (what does this oke do all day?) has brought it to my attention that the list for 27 Dinner Jozi (27-3) (yes, it’s tomorrow - yikes) has exceeded 100 people.
That, without a dedicated IOL article. No ways.
Anyhow, I look forward to seeing you there. As for the numbers thing, [...]

Who Knows e-Commerce?

Posted in Random Thoughts

Hey, a call for help. I have a friend who is looking for a solid e-Commerce solution on her website. It’s not my strong point, so I offered to ask you lot if you can recommend something to her. Ideally it should integrate with a CMS and be able to facilitate international [...]

In Retrospect

Posted in Life, etc., South Africa

Cricket matches are always easy to critique after they’re through. Yes, we lost, but I’m not entirely unhappy with it. Had Smither’s not cramped up we may have seen something a little different - and I know we gave Australia the shivers.
However, if I had known, even before the match started, [...]
