Cerebra Launches at 27

27dinner in joziTwo pretty significant things happened last night. We had our first 27 Dinner in Jozi – 27 is a series of meetings for techies, geeks, media practitioners, speakers, businesspeople, entrepreneurs and more – and by all accounts it was a big success. If you missed it, there’ll be a 27 held on the 27th of every month, around the country. Keep an eye on this blog, and the wiki, for updates.

I had great fun, met a few people for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the speakers on the evening. Thanks to Andy, Paul, Carly, Vincent and Dave for your inspiring thoughts. Thanks too to Gregor for his help with the preso.

Paul at Chilibean has as usual, the most comprehensive and timely report on the evenings antics events, so please mosey over to his site for that. He also took some really cool short videos, all up at YouTube. The one he took of Dave and I is below.

There is stuff at flickr, Technorati and YouTube, just search for the 27dinner tag. If you were there and have written something, took photo’s or video’s or whatever, please post a link up on the wiki for the rest of the community to enjoy. See you at the next one!

me at 27dinnerAnother significant piece of news was the official launch of my company, Cerebra. Cerebra is a social media consultancy and will focus it’s efforts on helping South African companies understand and harness the value of emerging trends and technologies. Dave Duarte is my valued colleague and Cape Town representation and Carl Spies is our tech guru. There’s plenty to say about Cerebra, but rather check out our site for the details.

Wow, big frikkin’ weekend. I’m like a whole 2% less stressed than I was on Friday night. Brilliant.

You guys are legends. Well done on a great event. I’ll see you guys in CT for the next one – I’m making plans.

PS: awesome pic you have there – even if I have to say so myself hehe

Good job lad… was blown away by the non-nerdiness of the event – great bunch of people and some seriously exciting stuff we can get going in the 2-007…

[...] How can one put a name to a group of people who want to get to together and pursue this goal of assisting others in practicing these principles through the use of proper use of web 2.0 tools. Looking at company started by, Mike & Dave, Cerebra – making the most of many minds.
