Gregor the Genius

I am not photogenic. At all. I hate having pics taken – I always look like a goof. Or perhaps it’s that I look like a goof all the time but when I look in the mirror all I see is blue steel.

Since I began writing for mainstream publications like the Citizen and Intelligence I’ve been asked to submit a bio and photo to accompany my content. Same goes for speaking engagements – I always have to send through a pic for the conference brochure. Needless to say, previous attempts at taking a photo of myself with a camera-phone have led to unsatisfactory (to say the least) results.

With this in mind I recently commissioned the services of New Media Lab graduate and ace photographer Gregor Rohrig to try help me come up with at least one or two decent pics for PR purposes. I first met Gregor at the Digital Citizen’s Indaba on Blogging earlier this year and was astounded at the quality of pics he took throughout the conference (DCI flickr stream here).

We met up last Saturday morning, drove through to Newtown and snapped off a fair few pics in record time. It was far less painful than I expected – Gregor is really good at what he does and passionate about it to boot, even with a dodgy model!

I’d highly recommend his services, you can also check out his moblog here. He has pics pasted all over flickr at the mo, some of which are being used around the world. Well done dude and keep it up – thanks for the great work.

As a huge fan of mentioned photographer, I would like to add that he has many other non-media related yet fabulous qualities too :) great pic.
