GeekDinnerWinner

Dave pulled off a beaut last night as approximately fifty of us Relished our collective Geekiness.

Stormhoek (Graham is the charming young gentleman in the foreground of the picture) supplied the wine and an inspirational story. Jonathan Cherry of the mini-blogging-empire Cherryflava told his story and encouraged us to de-mystify the blogosphere for “the rest of the world”.

Gavin (who is abnormally smart) went on to challenge us intellectually and Conrad showed us that he’s more than just a pretty face and a coding demigod by sharing the blog-post-that-wasn’t-that-now-is and touching even the geekiest heart in the room. Max topped it all off with her usual zest and passion.

If you ever want anything, and I mean anything organised to the nth and networked to the four corners of the earth, tell the Dave and let him work his magic.

Looking forward to the Jozi installment (but not volunteering to organise it).

Not to mention your own EXCELLENT talk, MIKE unSTOPableFORTH! Entertaining AND Insightful. An inspiration to many of the geeks in attendance. Thank you.

Quite simply, it was one meeting with Stormhoek to get the concept, creating a wiki to explain the concept and get registration, a call to book the venue, and an announcement on this blog. I’m glad that the thundering headache in the wake of the fun has finally passed. To Graham and Shane of Stormhoek for the intoxicating fun (& personal entropy) To firestarter Gavin Chait who put our efforts in the greater economic & political context & stoked some fiery debate! To the impressive Mike Stopforth who joined us from Jozi (content fell over the Pinotage event horizon but I do remember that his talk was delivered really well) Thankfully Jon Cherry’s red T-shirt was an achor that reminded me that he had launched a blogger competition (?did I imagine this) will have to zip over to the Cherryflava to find out more.
