Sunday Times Flirts With Multimedia

Posted in South Africa, Web 2.0 and Social Media

Kudo’s, as Matthew says, to the Sunday Times for boldly going where very few, if any online publishers have gone in SA.

They’ve constructed (with the help of the folks at Rhodes University’s New Media Lab) an intuitive, simple and effective site that should attract plenty of attention with its 2010 leaning.

Only one question from my side.  Actually, two:

1.  Where do I comment on the posts?

2.  How do I participate?  Where do I submit my video / pic / story / idea?

I’d venture to suggest that they could elevate the influence and reach of the site with a little more citizen participation.

Mike, the reasons for the lack of citizen interaction are various and quite technical. Given the current architecture of the ST site it was not feasible to roll out any new features for this short project. However, the option still exists to submit citizen media to reporter.co.za which is their citizen media platform.

    Hi Vincent

Thanks for the comment. All valid points.

How about a BLOG THIS! link so that bloggers can embed the videos on their sites a la YouTube? Just a suggestion, but then the onus is on the bloggers??
