Caffe Neo

Situated directly opposite the lighthouse in Moullie Point, Cape Town, Caffe Neo is a revelation.

They have thought carefully about how to sink wells that attract the most networked, interesting, talented, bright individuals in the Mother City – and it seems to be working.

Neo

Sink wells? The story is told:

Some years ago a person who had never been to Australia before was taken on a trip through the Australian outback. He travelled across some of the huge pastoral leases. At one point he came into contact with a farmer.

“Excuse me,” he said to the farmer, “I have seen thousands of sheep around here, but there are no fences to keep them in. In my country we have fences everywhere so that the sheep will not stray or get lost and die.”

The farmer considered this for a moment and said: “Well … out here we don’t need fences. In this climate we only need to sink wells … the sheep get thirsty … they don’t wander too far.”

Neo has the perfect location. Neo has pleny of natural lighting and wide open spaces. Neo has an open kitchen – I can see who is fondling my chicken breast. Neo has great waitrons and waiters. Neo has a ‘library’ situated in the centre of the Cafe, with a diverse multitude of literary pleasures. Neo has their menu written on a big-ass blackboard.

Neo has free wifi, with phenomenally good signal and no sign-up required.

I’ve been meaning to do this for ages, but today is the first time I’ve come to Caffe Neo to work. Great vibe and excellent coffee.

[...] I am a raving fan of the wonderful CaffeNeo (secret spot, no site, already too popular, we fear for the festive summer hordes).. on the weekend it’s jostling with kiddies and dogs and the usual gorgeous Cape Town crew. Out on the deck >> looking out over the azure Atlantic. From here it would appear to be just another classic Cape Town spot, yummy fresh food, wicked coffee, gorgeous art, freshest croissants. BUT it’s during the week that it’s street cred throbs to life. Seriously smart ones have foregone their offices & quietly run their empires from behind their screens or scribing pensively in their moleskines. It’s geek heaven. [...]
