Love Him or Hate Him?
Zinedine Zidane. Zizou. I’ve always been a huge fan. Like Adam Gilchrist and his bat, Zizou has always used his boots to do the talking.
Or so it seemed.
I know it’s old news now, but this nifty little pic from Splattermail had me chuckling about it:

To be honest, I still love Zizou. And I think he can hold his head up high, so to speak. The melodramatic recipient of his nicely timed Glasgow Kiss has a slightly less admirable record, and it really wouldn’t surprise me to learn that whatever he had to say deserved a good smack. And probably one over the nose.
However, I wanted to see what bloggers generally thought of Zidane’s now infamous headbutt, and so turned to Opinmind to weigh up the positive buzz against the negative buzz. Opinmind is a nifty little engine that returns results on search terms based on negative or positive leaning. The only downside is that it samples 1.7 million blogs out of 100 million+.
I wasn’t surprised when a search for “Zidane” revealed a 65% to 35% split in favour of positive citations.
Thinking that Zizou would be screwed if I changed the search terms, I tried “Zidane headbutt“. I was pleasantly surprised to see a - get this - 64% to 36% split in favour of the great man.
So there. Bloggers prove that headbutts are ok in moderation.
